I’d recognise those sickeningly uniform covers anywhere. They’re those rubbish Reader’s Digest condensed books.  All the book-ness was removed before they were ever printed.  You can’t GIVE those things away at book sales; I know, we used to have scads of them donated to the library where I volunteered in high school.  Those, along with obsolete science textbooks and computer manuals, went in big bins to the town dump.  The artist has actually taken these up to the “re-use” step, rather than the “recycle” step that was their inevitable destination.
