Lobby cards from Universal’s Spanish language version of Dracula (1931)
The actor who played Dracula in the Spanish version, Carlos Villarías, was a much better villain than Bela Lugosi. Heresy, I know, but Lugosi’s acting was always wooden, even when he wasn’t out of his mind on drugs. This Dracula was more sinuous, sibilant, that attractive evil I love so well.
